This week, the European Union (EU) declared that all products made by Jewish companies located in Judea and Samaria (also known as the West Bank) must have “consumer warning” labels.  By contrast, Mislim-made products there will be labeled “Made in Palestine” – a country” which does not now, or ever in history did, exist.

From Erielle Davidson’s article for

Under the new rule, goods produced by Jews will be labeled as having been produced in an Israeli settlement, while goods produced by Muslims may be labeled as made in “Palestine,” indicating blatant discriminatory treatment. Unsurprisingly, Israel’s presence in the West Bank and the Golan Heights are the only contested areas in the world to be the focus of the labeling ire of the EU.

“No other territory, occupied, disputed, or otherwise is subject to such requirements,” noted Eugene Kontorovich, director of the Center for International Law in the Middle East at George Mason University. Kontorovich emphasized the peculiarity of the ruling. “In no other case does any ‘origin labeling’ require any kind of statement about the political circumstances in the area. This is a special Yellow Star for Jewish products only.”

As Mr Kontorovich notes,  there are disputed territories all over the world. Yet the one and only territory the EU requires such labeling of is Israel.

Now why do you suppose that would be?

Some hatreds die hard. And, as seen here, some never seem to die at all.

Oh, one other thing.  From Adam Kredo’s article at, we have this:

The Trump administration is preparing to go toe-to-toe with the European Union over the latter’s recent decision to mandate that Jewish-made goods produced in contested areas of Israel carry consumer warning labels, a decision critics have described as reminiscent of Nazi-era boycotts, according to senior U.S. officials who briefed the Washington Free Beacon.

I’ll end with two questions:

Do you think Barack Obama would have gone to bat for Israel here? Do you think Donald Trump will get any credit for doing so?

Do you think the “Lost Tribers, who supported Obama despite his 8 years of animosity toward Israel, will give Trump any credit for doing so?

I’m pretty sure I know your answers.
