After two cancellations due to the protests, riots and looting in Baltimore, the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox are finally playing major league baseball again. Their game is scheduled to start at 1:30PM in Camden Yards, Baltimore.
And it will be a historic game. Because, for the first time in major league history, a regularly scheduled game will be played without any attendance. The stadium is closed to fans. Only the press and a few scouts will be seated.
How many people who work at Camden Yards have lost their paychecks over these days? How many ticket sellers? Food and drink vendors? Souvenir vendors?
My congratulations to the people who made this all happen. The rioters, the looters, and the Mayor who was nice enough to, as she put it, give them the space to destroy.
This will do wonders for Baltimore\’s reputation. And economy. And tourism. Right?
Now they have another reason to complain there isn\’t enough money for their neighborhoods: Them.
