My wife and I just came back from seeing “Thank You For Your Service” – a story of soldiers returning from Iraq and the horrors they face re-entering civilian life.

It is relentlessly grim and unsettling.  Extremely difficult to watch.  But 100% worthwhile.
The acting – especially Miles Teller, Beulah Koale (despite the name, Beulah is a he), Haley Bennett and, surprisingly, Amy Schumer in a small, but very significant, role – is uniformly excellent.

And then there is the haunting song about freedom not being free, sung perfectly by Bruce Springsteen.

If you’re looking for light entertainment, avoid this movie at all costs.  But if you’re looking for a movie that tells a harrowing story about a subject we all should care deeply about and holds back nothing, don’t miss it.
