Robert Frances O’Rourke. I wonder how many people would hear that name and not know who it is, because he prefers to go by the nickname “Beto”.
Well, “Beto”, fresh from his failure to win the Senate seat currently occupied by Ted Cruz, is now considering a run for the White House.
And this, excerpted from Tal Axelrod’s article at thehill.com, apparently is his idea of the path to victory:
Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) will headline a rally on Monday in El Paso at the same time that President Trump is set to hold a rally there.
“Beto O’Rourke will join with his city on Monday evening to show the country the reality of the border — a vibrant, safe, binational community that proudly celebrates its culture, history, diversity and status as a city of immigrants,” the statement (released by his office) said.
“While some try to stoke fear and paranoia, to spread lies and a false narrative about the U.S.-Mexico border and to demand a 2,000 mile wall along it at a time of record safety and security, El Paso will come together for a march and celebration that highlights the truth,” the statement continues.
Safe, secure. Yep, that’s the Mexico U.S.border all right.
Millions upon millions of illegals – unvetted, no way to tell who they are, what their motives are, whether they are sick or well, etc. – streaming into the country through porous borders. No problem, it’s all a myth.
No problem with gang members, or drug cartels, or foreign nationals from countries around the country sneaking in, or the cost to taxpayers of government services (some might say “giveaways”) to illegals that are funded by the U.S. taxpayer, including massive amounts for health care and incarceration of criminals. That’s all a myth too.
This level of absurdity reminds me of that funny scene at the end of Animal House, with a young Kevin Bacon telling town citizens, who are in full panic mode, to “Remain calm, all is well”:
Trouble is, the “Beto” O’Rourke version is not very funny at all, is it?
If this is his path to the White House, I wish him a very, very rocky trip.
