This installment of the Real Racism series concerns Joe Biden’s commitment to replacing a Supreme Court justice – an issue made immediate by the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Mr. Biden has told us- not indirectly but in so many words – that he will only replace her with a Black woman.
Mr. Biden has said this numbers of times. Here is just one of them – from his March 15th debate with Bernie Sanders:
“I commit it that if I’m elected President and have an opportunity to appoint someone to the courts, I’ll appoint the first black woman to the courts.”
In other words:
-No Whites need apply.
-No Asians need apply.
-No men need apply.
How does that sit with you?
And let’s not forget that he immediately followed up his exclusionary commitment with a gender-exclusive commitment for his Vice Presidential selection (which he has made good on):
“Secondly, if I’m elected president, my — my cabinet, my administration will look like the country. And I commit that I will, in fact, appoint a — I’ll pick a woman to be vice president.”
This should disgust and appall anyone who is against racism and sexism.
It should, however, thrill anyone who claims to be against racism and sexism…but is just fine with both, as long as it benefits the race and sex they prefer.
Real racism. It comes in all forms from all sources. No group is immune to it or from it. Certainly not a career politician who serves it up right in your face, the way Joe Biden has.
