This installment of Real Racism is dedicated to anyone who disagrees with my previous blog, which pointed out that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was not acting in a racist way by darkening his skin for an “Arabian Nights” event at his school almost two decades ago:
How do you feel about this verbatim statement by Rep. alyanna pressley (D-MA ), which she made on July 13, at the (far left fringe) Netroots Nation conference in Philadelphia:
“I don’t want to bring a chair to an old table. This is the time to shake the table. This is the time to redefine that table. Because if you’re going to come to this table, all of you who have aspirations of running for office. If you’re not prepared to come to that table and represent that voice, don’t come, because we don’t need any more brown faces that don’t want to be a brown voice. We don’t need black faces that don’t want to be a black voice. We don’t need Muslims that don’t want to be a Muslim voice. We don’t need queers that don’t want to be a queer voice. If you’re worried about being marginalized and stereotyped, please don’t even show up because we need you to represent that voice.”
In other words, Brown people, and Black people, and Muslim people and gay people are supposed to talk the way I stereotype Browns and Blacks and Muslims and gays to talk. And if they don’t – if they think of this as what it is – marginalizing and stereotyping themselves, they’re not welcome here.
Now THAT’S real racism. Pure, unadulterated, indisputable racism.
Can you see a difference between what Justin Trudeau did to look more Arabian at a party – with no commentary about, let alone against, anyone of darker skin, and the overt racist excrement tossed by this sitting member of the House of Representatives?
I hope so.
And I hope you are as outraged as I am that our mainstream media, ever on the alert for even the slightest hint of possible racism by Republicans, left her sick filth almost unreported.
Real racism. It can come from any source in any form. No group is immune to it or from it. Certainly not a disgusting racist like ayanna pressley, who – because she is a left wing Democrat and, maybe even more importantly, a member of “the squad” – is given a complete free pass on it.
