Here is a fascinating piece of intelligence I was unaware of until a few moments ago.
According to Fox News regular, Judge Andrew Napolitano:
” Paul Manafort’s lawyers are former federal prosecutors who are every bit as talented and experienced as the people on the other side of the courtroom.
“One of their arguments is this: Paul Manafort was investigated by the federal government, by a team of federal prosecutors and FBI agents for all this stuff eight years ago, and they exonerated him.
“And who was the young prosecutor that led that exoneration? Rod Rosenstein, who now runs the Justice Department.
“And they have threatened to call Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein as their first witness and have him give to the jury all the reasons why he declined the prosecution of these charges eight years ago.”
Rod Rosenstein oversaw the exoneration of Paul Manafort on the charges that have been rehashed by mueller’s witch hunt? The charges relating to actions from years before the 2016 campaign, thus have nothing to do with what mueller is supposed to be investigating?
Either Judge Napolitano is making this up out of thin air – which I think we’ll all agree there is virtually no chance he is doing – or this ridiculous abuse of authority by robert mueller and his Democrat-stacked staff have given the Trump people an opening two 18 wheelers could drive through, with room for a few jumbo jets as well.
This is not the first mistake mueller has made: his for-show indictment of 12 Russian nationals – which one of them, to his surprise, contested and is demanding discovery he desperately does not want to provide – is certainly a biggie. But it pales in comparison to the potential for this to blow up in his face.
We, of course, have yet to see how this all plays out. But if I were mueller and his hatchetman andrew weissman, I’d be plenty worried.
