Did you ever see the movie “Miss Congeniality”?
If you did, you know that it was about a female FBI agent named Grace Hart (played perfectly by Sandra Bullock) who started out as coarse and unrefined as she could be, and evolved into a more refined, sensitive person.
There is a scene when, as the contestant in a beauty pageant, she says something very sweet and positive, making her coach (played by the great Michael Caine) smile broadly…but which she then follows up with something he considers crude and offensive. Caine’s reaction?
“One brief, shining moment. And then that mouth“.
This brings us straight to Joe Biden.
As you certainly are aware, Mr. Biden has been damaged by the self-inflicted wound of his telling a Black radio show host with the whimsical name Charlamagne Tha God, “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t Black” – which, not surprisingly, did not at all sit well with CTG.
So, yesterday, Mr. Biden is being interviewed by CNN show host Don Lemon. The talk turns to that comment. And here is the start of Biden’s explanation (bold print is mine).
“I apologized immediately for responding to Charlamagne, who was baiting me…”
Congratulations to Joe Biden for managing to insult CTG in the same sentence as his apology…without even a brief shining moment before his apology was obliterated by that mouth.
Incidentally, Sandra Bullock’s character finished second in the beauty pageant. And the winner didn’t look a thing like Donald Trump.
