Nikki Haley has resigned as our United Nations ambassador, effective at the end of this year.

That means her tenure as U.N. Ambassador will be almost two full years, not at all untypical for this position.

In Ms. Haley’s just-completed press conference with President Trump, the impression was left that this remains a Mutual Admiration Society. Whether that is, in actuality, true, there is no way to know for sure. Time will tell.

My personal take is that Nikki Haley, to the extent any Ambassador could be spectacularly successful in a no-win job like this one, was just that.  She represented us with grace, dignity, strength and clarity.  I don’t know how she could have been better.  We can only hope our next Ambassador is even close to what Ms. Haley has been.

As to Nikki Haley’s future?  I wish her every success…and fervently hope there will be another position in this or a future administration for her.  How lucky we would be if that were to happen.
