New York Times op-ed columnist Nicholas Kristof, searching for something to talk about besides Russian collusion in last year’s presidential election – which he had no problem discussing when there was un-evidenced speculation about Donald Trump instead of evidenced facts, not speculation, that Hillary Clinton was neck-deep in it – has found a new line of attack against Mr. Trump.
In the wondrous world of Kristofia, Donald Trump now is in favor of damaging children’s brains.
Think I’m kidding? Read the first part of his column in today’s paper:
The pesticide, which belongs to a class of chemicals developed as a nerve gas made by Nazi Germany, is now found in food, air and drinking water. Human and animal studies show that it damages the brain and reduces I.Q.s while causing tremors among children. It has also been linked to lung cancer and Parkinson’s disease in adults.
This chemical, chlorpyrifos, is hard to pronounce, so let’s just call it Dow Chemical Company’s Nerve Gas Pesticide. Even if you haven’t heard of it, it may be inside you: One 2012 study found that it was in the umbilical cord blood of 87 percent of newborn babies tested.
And now the Trump administration is embracing it, overturning a planned ban that had been in the works for many years.
The Environmental Protection Agency actually banned Dow’s Nerve Gas Pesticide for most indoor residential use 17 years ago — so it’s no longer found in the Raid you spray at cockroaches (it’s very effective, which is why it’s so widely used; then again, don’t suggest this to Dow, but sarin nerve gas might be even more effective!).
Wow, that nazi-sympathizer Trump is in favor of damaging the brains of 87% of our children. He must be, because he is “embracing it, overturning a planned ban that had been in the works for many years.”
Dirty bastard. Toss him out of the White House today, lock him up and throw away the key.
I have a few questions for Mr. Kristof:
-If chlorpyrifos was banned for residential use 17 years ago – presumably based on information that had been accumulated over a period of time before the ban took place – and Bill Clinton was President from 2003 to 2001, during which this information was accumulated and the residential ban implemented, why didn’t he do anything about it? Is he in favor of nazi nerve gas too? How come you didn’t mention this?
And, forgetting Bush’s years (he’s a Republican so we all know he hates everybody except rich White people), wasn’t Barack Obama President for the last 8 years? Didn’t he know about this as well?
And if, as you say, “a planned ban that had been in the works for many years” wouldn’t that inherently include the Obama years? So why didn’t he do something about it? Is he in favor of nazi nerve gas too? How come you didn’t mention this, any more than you mentioned Clinton?
Y’know what I think, Mr. Kristof? I think you hate Donald Trump’s guts so much that you will accuse him of anything you can find – even something as ugly as this – without a thought in the world that it applies to two Democrat presidents as well, including the love of your life, Barack Obama.
I think we should at least consider the possibility that either you’ve breathed in too much of the chlorpyrifos yourself over these past 17 years – especially the past 8 Obama years – and it has affected your brain, or you just write from the standpoint of unreasoning, visceral hatred.
Uh…which is the good one?
