NEXT UP (DOWN, ACTUALLY): BLAKE FARENTHOLD

Earlier today I blogged about Tavis Smiley being suspended from PBS.

At the time, I mentioned that the next take-down probably would be very soon in coming.

Well, here it is.

Blake Farenthold (R-TX), the four term Republican House member from Texas, has announced that he will retire after his term ends rather than run for reelection.

The reason? His serial abuse of staff members, including vile sexual innuendo, which made his office a living hell to work in.

You can read all about it by clicking here.

And, as was the case with Smiley, the accusations did not come from Farenthold’s  enemies. They came from the people who worked with him – which gives them far more credibility.

Personally, my only problem with Farenthold’s “retirement” is his announcement that he will serve out his full term.

Don’t count on it.

I’m betting this will quickly be revised to a far shorter timetable – maybe even an immediate one.

If the allegations are true, it can’t happen soon enough.
