What is a “daisnaid” politician? It is a politician who practices “do as I say, not as I do”. “Daisnaid”.
The latest two are Democrat San Francisco Mayor London Breed and Democrat San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo.
According to Heather Knight’s article for the San Francisco Chronicle:
Gov. Gavin Newsom is in good company when it comes to politicians attending fancy birthday parties while encouraging others to avoid gathering. It turns out San Francisco Mayor London Breed dined at the French Laundry the night after Newsom’s infamous, ill-advised, mid-pandemic soiree at the three-star Michelin restaurant in Yountville.
And, not to be outdone by Ms. Breed, here, via Tim Stelloh’s article for NBC News, is San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo’s “daisnaid” performance:
The mayor of San Jose, California, apologized Tuesday for not following state coronavirus restrictions during a Thanksgiving meal in the latest example of an official not following public health protocols.
Mayor Sam Liccardo offered the apology after NBC Bay Area reported that he appeared to have celebrated the holiday with his elderly parents at their home with an unknown number of guests.
In a pre-Thanksgiving message last week, Liccardo had urged people to “cancel the big gatherings this year and focus on keeping each other safe.”
How many Democrats who have imposed draconian limitations on people gathering (unless they’re protest marches or celebrations over President Trump apparently losing the presidency) have put themselves in “daisnaid” territory? I’ve lost count.
This is not to say that Republicans are not capable of doing the same thing. For example, think Donald Trump and masks. But, for the most part, they seem to be Democrats.
Let me end by pointing out that it would be good to see politicians playing by the same rules they impose on others.
I wish a few of this bunch would try it.
