The Washington Post is now reporting that Melissa Harris-Perry\’s four hours of hosting on MSNBC (10AM – Noon on Saturday and Sunday) is over.

Call me a pessimist, but I don\’t think it helped her longevity prospects when Ms. Harris-Perry essentially accused NBC News Chief Andy Lack and MSNBC President Phil Griffin of being racists.  Her exact words:

“I will not be used as atool for their purposes.  I amnot a token, mammy or little brown bobble head. I am not owned by [NBCexecutives] or MSNBC. I love our show. I want it back.”

See, making that kind of a statement about the people who would bring it back, isn\’t going to get it back.

If Ms. Harris-Perry\’s ratings were anywhere near good, this probably would have been overcome one way or another.  But her ratings are almost non-existent.  So why would Lack or Griffin try?  In point of fact, her tirade might have been welcomed as an “out” to get rid of the show.

Personally, I\’ll miss Melissa Harris-Perry.  Who else gives us as many quotes to marvel at…such as her contention that the term “hard work” is racist in nature?

Will she be back on the air in some capacity?  Let\’s wait and see.  But don\’t count on seeing her in a prime time slot on Fox……
