HUNTER BIDEN’S ROMANIA CONNECTION

Well, well, well.

Another country Joe Biden, as Vice President, was deeply involved in, and another country that his son, Hunter Biden, magically became $ignificantly involved with.

From Laura Strickler and Rich Schapiro’s article for – believe it or not – NBC News:

In the final year of the Obama administration, an American lawyer traveled to Romania to meet with a businessman accused of orchestrating a corrupt land deal.

The businessman was Gabriel “Puiu” Popoviciu, a wealthy Romanian real estate tycoon. The lawyer brought in to advise him was Hunter Biden, the son of then-Vice President Joe Biden, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Hunter Biden’s work for Popoviciu in 2016 went unreported at the time, but Joe Biden’s involvement in Romania was very much public. The vice president was among the leading voices pushing the government to crack down on corruption.

There’s no evidence that Hunter or his father acted improperly or violated any laws. But the arrangement, government ethics experts say, raises concerns that Hunter Biden was used as a prop in Popoviciu’s effort to dodge criminal prosecution.

“We don’t know what [Hunter Biden] was paid or what he was paid for but it does raise questions of whether this Romanian individual facing criminal charges was actually paying for a connection to the American vice president,” said Kathleen Clark, a Washington University law professor who specializes in government ethics.

Nope, no evidence that anyone did anything wrong.  And no information on how much Hunter Biden got paid.  Just “ethical concerns”.

Can anyone tell me what qualifications Hunter Biden would have had to be a legal adviser in Romania – other than the fact that daddy Joe might be happy that he was paid to do it, and his happiness might have been reflected in the way he handled Romanian matters…

…which, you may recall, is the same thing we could have said about his huge financial deal in China.  And his involvement with the Burisma energy company in Ukraine.

Hunter Biden- a dissolute man with an unsavory history of behavior, whose main qualification for these gigs was the fact that his father was Vice President, just keeps turning up where dad has power and influence.

In fairness, it can also be said that President Trump uses his children in political capacities, and that would be true.

But, unless I am misinformed, they are not being paid for their efforts.  And they certainly are not being given big money “deals” with foreign companies to do things they have no qualifications for.  So I guess the comparison doesn’t hold much water, does it?

The reality here is that Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, got rich off of his daddy’s political power.  And we have video tape of daddy making good and sure one of the companies he got rich off of was not investigated, by threatening to withhold $1 billion in aid unless the prosecutor was fired that day.  This moves things from being ethically malodorous into far darker territory.

But, as long as Biden is the only major candidate who comes close to being politically “moderate” (whatever that means anymore), while hard leftists like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders split their vote, the polls will continue to show him in major-candidate territory.

If I were Donald Trump, I don’t know which of these three major Democrat candidates (as of now) I’d like to run against more:

– “Mr. Gaffe” Biden and his dissolute son’s past,

-Elizabeth Warren, who serially lies about her past and ducks questions about how much her giveaway proposals will raise taxes on the middle class, or

-Bernie Sanders – a self-avowed socialist, if anything even further left than Warren, with a heart condition to boot.

Hey, maybe there’s still time for Walter Mondale to get  into the race and take a second shot at the prize.  How much worse could he do than in 1984, when he won his home state and lost the other 49 to Ronald Reagan?

And, then, there’s Hillary…….
