You’re not going to believe this one.
From Bruce Golding’s article for the New York Post:
Twitter has refused to unlock The Post’s account unless the news organization deletes six tweets about its own reporting on Hunter Biden’s emails — despite a policy change sparked by outrage over that very same social-media suppression of the stories.
In a Friday afternoon email, a Twitter representative told The Post, “While we’ve updated the policy, we don’t change enforcement retroactively. You will still need to delete the Tweets to regain access to your account.”
The demand that The Post remove links to its own stories came even though a new policy announced Thursday night allows other users to tweet the very same links.
Are these people kidding?
First, twitter locked the New York Post’s account because – heaven forfend – it put up news stories describing damning emails it has uncovered about Joe Biden. And it disallowed references to The Post’s material by other twitter users as well.
Let’s stop right there. Why is a news story – which, like every other news story, may or may not be factual, cause for locking an account, thus preventing untold millions of people from reading it and deciding for itself.
It’s not like twitter determined even one word of the Post material was untrue. It was that Jack Dorsey & Co. – virtually every one of them demonstrably anti-Trump – did not want twitter users to read/think about/discuss with each other what The Post’s story had to say.
Then, when there was massive outrage over their behavior – and a threat by several U.S. Senators to investigate twitter’s overt censorship – Dorsey suddenly reversed policy and allowed twitter users to discuss the Post’s material…
…but it kept The Post’s account locked anyway, on the grounds that its overt censorship occurred when the policy it has now reversed was in force.
In other words, “We disallowed you from showing this information, we have reversed the policy that disallowed you from showing this information, but we’re disallowing you from showing this information anyway”.
If Lewis Carroll were still alive, he would have made this a chapter of “Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland” – maybe even the basis for his entire book.
How far will these self-appointed censors of information – not just Jack Dorsey, but the others as well, with Mark Zuckerberg of facebook right at the forefront with him – to keep material like this from their subscribers; to make sure they don’t have such information before they vote for president?
Remember this: if Joe Biden is elected, you can bet your bottom dollar their stranglehold on the flow of information will continue unabated. The guy who benefits from it isn’t going to do a thing to stop it.
Does that affect your decision one way or the other? If you have not yet voted, please keep it in mind when you do.
