HERMAN CAIN R.I.P.

The amazing Herman Cain died today at the age of 74; a victim of COVID-19.

Mr. Cain was born in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of a cleaning lady and a janitor/chauffeur.   From those very humble beginnings, Cain, who is Black, became…

…the successful manager of 400 Burger King restaurants…

…then President and CEO of Godfather Pizza – which he resurrected from a failing business to a profitable one…

…then Chairman of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City…

then a member of the board of directors of that Federal Reserve Bank…

…then then its Deputy Chairman…

…then the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

Are you impressed?  You certainly should be.

How ironic that Mr. Cain died on the same day as John Lewis’s funeral.

Ironic because, like Mr. Lewis, Mr. Cain rose to be a giant.  And a remarkable role model – not just for Black people, but for all people.

May Herman Cain rest in peace.
