In classic Hollywood fashion, the Harvey Weinstein story has – well, we’re supposed to believe it has – had a happy “to-be-continued” ending.
From article at tmz.com:
Harvey Weinstein is boarding a private jet Tuesday night, bound for a rehab center in Europe for sex addiction … sources connected with the former mogul tell TMZ.
We’re told Harvey has decided to take the advice of the people around him and leave immediately. We’re told he will enter a live-in facility and will deal both with sex and other behavioral issues.
We’re told Weinstein still believes he can get help, come back and make a fresh start. As a source close to Weinstein put it, “He wants to come back with fresh, new ideas.”
Is that what “we’re told”? Interesting.
Here’s what it tells me. Odds are that Weinstein will spend a period of time in Europe at this facility, then come back “a new man”. His company will not initially take him back, to show everyone that the jury is still out. And then, shortly thereafter – reminding people that they waited to see – he will be reinstated.
As the late, great columnist Harriet Van Horne used to say, this has all the sincerity of a Christmas card from a bank.
But, on the positive side, he does get a European trip out of it, doesn’t he?
UPDATE: For whatever it’s worth, now we are being told Weinstein is going to a sexual rehabilitation center in Arizona, not Europe.
