Former President George Herbert Walker Bush passed away last night.
This amazing man had one of the most successful, productive, and eclectic lives I have ever come across:
Among his accomplishments:
-He was a military hero during World War II – one of the two youngest navy pilots in history.
-After graduating Yale – in just three years – he became a successful business man, becoming wealthy in the oil industry .
-He was a two-term congressperson from Texas.
-He was our Ambassador to the United Nations.
-He was our Ambassador to China.
-He headed the CIA.
-He was a two-term Vice President under Ronald Reagan.
-He was President of the United States.
Throughout this singular career, he had what, from all appearances was a stable, happy, loving home life with his wife, Barbara, who passed away in April of this year. Among their children was Florida Governor Jeb Bush and Texas Governor, then President in his own right, George W. Bush.
And, other than the political garbage that happens with anyone in public office, try and find someone who had a bad word to say about him.
People like this do not come along every day. Or, for that matter, every decade. George H.W. Bush was a national treasure, and will be are diminished by his passing.
May he rest in peace.
