Yesterday I blogged about the enmity between operatives for Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential cycle, regarding Sanders’ frequent use of private jets to campaign for Ms. Clinton, after her people fixed the outcome of the nominating process to shut him out of a possible candidacy.
I’m assuming you understand that this would not generate a love-fest between the two camps. But just in case you’re still in doubt, here, pulled from Daniel Lippman’s piece at politico.com, is the reaction of Michael Briggs, Sanders’ 2016 spokesperson, to the publicizing of his boss’s jet travel preferences:
“You can see why she’s one of the most disliked politicians in America, she’s not nice. Her people are not nice. “[Sanders] busted his tail to fly all over the country to talk about why it made sense to elect Hillary Clinton and the thanks that [we] get is this kind of petty stupid sniping a couple years after the fact.”
“It doesn’t make me feel good to feel this way but they’re some of the biggest assholes in American politics.”
Call me a pessimist, but somehow I can’t help thinking that this is not meant as loving, constructive criticism.
Now let’s see if Hillary decides to go “Harold Stassen” and give it one more try in 2020. If so, I will eagerly await what Mr. Briggs and his pals will have to say about it.
