In a word, no.

This is not to say Joe Biden won’t be running; there is a strong likelihood he will be.  But his comment at a dinner event in Dover, Delaware, which media have decided was an inadvertent slip of the tongue that spilled the beans on his intentions, was no such thing.

Here is what Biden said:

“I know I get criticized. I’m told I get criticized by the new left/  I have the most progressive record of anybody running for the — anybody who would run.”

Members of the crowd started cheering as though this were an announcement.  Media decided to go the same route.

Oh, c’mon.

Illustratively, let me say that I have the strongest association with New York City of anybody running for the Democrat nomination.

Does that mean I am running too?  Nope.

If Biden had said “I have the most progressive record of anyone else running, or any other candidate, that would have established him as one of them, as a candidate.

But he didn’t.  As worded, his statement is nothing more than a comparison with the current candidates, not an announcement that he has joined them.

Bottom line:  this is just another silly-time creation of non-news by our wonderful media.

End of blog..
