To the consternation of, oh, maybe dozens of people nationwide, Senator Cory Booker has just announeed he is ending his quest for the 2020 Democrat presidential nomination.
For you identity politics enthusiasts. that leaves Andrew Yang as the one and only non-White Democrat candidate.
Put another way, despite Black voters giving Democrats the vast majority of their support for decades, and despite two terms of Barack Obama, not one 2020 Black candidate has gotten far enough with Democrat voters to make it to even the first primary (unless you count Deval Patrick, whose media coverage, and voter interest, ended about 5 seconds after he announced).
What does this mean? What should it mean?
