It isn’t easy to keep up with the fake news and lies that emanate from CNN, but every now and then I like to keep you apprised of them.
One such instance was this past Wednesday, after the transcript of President Trump’s telephone call with The Ukraine’s new President, Volodymyr Zelensky was made public.
This exchange, which I pulled from Nicholas Fondacaro’s article at newsbusters.org, took place between CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and White House Correspondent Jim Acosta:
Blitzer: l. “And let’s not forget; in the, this summary that was released by the White House, the President specifically quoted as saying to the Ukrainian president, ‘I would like you to do us a favor’ and then goes into an investigation into the Bidens and the Democrats.”
Acosta: “That is right, Wolf. And the President never really asked — or answered the question. I tried to ask the question as he was walking out of the room, what did he mean by ‘could you do us a favor.’ He never really explained what he was talking about with respect to that question.”
So there you have it. President Trump asked for President Zelensky to “do us a favor” and investigate the Bidens and the Democrats. There’s no doubt about this; Blitzer and Acosta read it right off the transcript.
…forgetting for a moment that there is NOTHING WRONG with the President of the United States asking that possible misbehavior by an American politician in the Ukraine be investigated, even if that politician is running against him…
…the claim by Blitzer, which was immediately “confirmed” by Acosta, is a blatant lie.
Let me say that again. Blitzer and Acosta were lying.
Here is the transcript’s paragraph where President Trump asks for a favor, with the part about a favor in yellow:
Do you see anything about that favor involving the Bidens and the Democrats? No you don’t, because it isn’t there. Nothing about them at all.
The favor was to look into “Crowdstrike”, the Ukrainian based company which, apparently, did interfere in the 2016 election – on behalf of Hillary Clinton – and which I have already blogged about this week. In fact, I blogged about it two years ago.
Yes, Crowdstrike. The one and only source for claims that Russians hacked the DNC servers on behalf of Republicans – which the FBI, then under the directorship of james comey, never checked because the DNC refused to allow their servers to be looked at. The same Crowdstrike fake news operations like CNN have diligently avoided reporting on for the past three years.
The claim that Trump’s request for a favor was about the Bidens, therefore, was a blatant lie. And a lie Blitzer and Acosta had to know they were telling, because it was right there in front of their eyes.
I don’t know what CNN is these days. But I do know what it isn’t; a credible news source.
