Chuck Schumer is a United States Senator, the Majority leader of the Senate, and – we are supposed to believe – a big supporter of the state of Israel.
With that in mind, please read this segment from John Bacon’s disturbing article at USA Today…and then consider the question I will be asking:
Iran is the “real evil” in the Middle East and Israel has the right to strike back hard at Hezbollah militants for the deadly rocket attack on a soccer field, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-New York, said Sunday. Iran supports militant groups across the region, including Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza and the Houthis in Yemen.
Schumer, who has slammed Netanyahu’s leadership but remains a fervent supporter of Israel, said Israel has “every right” to defend itself against Hezbollah. He, like Blinken, urged efforts to de-escalate the growing crisis.
There’s the segment. There are those strong words from “fervent supporter of Israel” Chuck Schumer.
Now here is my question.
If Chuck Schumer knows Iran is the “real evil” in the Middle East, if he knows that Iran is behind hezbollah, hamas and the houthis, if he knows Iran is supporting them with money, munitions and training…
…then why has he spent four full years watching President Joe Biden allow Iran to become flush with the funds it is using to do so without demanding a change in policy?
When Biden took office, outgoing President Donald Trump had Iran on the ropes financially. Trump had fully sanctioned Iran, and he had made it as difficult as possible for its terrorist leaders to sell their oil/generate the monies necessary to go after Israel (and the United States as well, let’s remember).
But when Biden almost immediately removed the sanctions on Iran…
…and Biden unfroze billions upon billions of dollars for Iran to work with…
…and when Biden simultaneously made us energy dependent, thus giving the unsanctioned Iran a massive opportunity to profit from its oil reserves…
…what did Schumer say?
Did Schumer demand that Biden reconsider? Did Schumer distance himself in any meaningful way from those absolutely disastrous decisions; decisions that are endangering Israel’s very existence, not to mention overall world peace, today?
If he did then show me. Because I read the news every day and don’t know of any such demand. I don’t know of a damn thing Schumer did to in any way dissuade Biden from those decisions and their horrific consequences.
Bottom line? Chuck Schumer, whatever he once was, whatever he claims to believe in, and regardless of his talk-a-good-game blah blah blah regarding Israel, is a duplicitous political hack, with no personal integrity, for whom party loyalty far outweighs any regard for Israel. Politics is more important to him than the safely and well being of Israel and its citizens.
He makes me sick to my stomach.
