CHICAGO: SHOOTINGS AND GUN CONTROL

In case you are unaware of the carnage that is overtaking the city of Chicago again this year, here are the latest figures, from the unfortunately-named, but invaluable heyjackass.com website:

Year to Date
Shot & Killed: 488
Shot & Wounded: 2354
Total Shot: 2842
Total Homicides: 525

FYI – in 2015, Chicago’s total number of homicides was 485.  Now, with over three months to go, it is at 525,

And for shootings – both fatal and non-fatal?  In 2015, there were a total of 2,426.  Now, again with over three months to go, there are over 400 more.

And the city’s response?  More/stricter gun control laws – which have virtually no affect whatsoever on shootings, since virtually all the guns used are obtained/owned illegally – and more cops on the street – which has virtually no affect whatsoever on shootings, since they, like the cops already on the streets, have been made fearful of daring to aggressively police in Black areas.

Think I’m racist for talking about this in racial terms?  On January 1, the Chicago Tribune published an article showing the above data.  In it, the following point was made:

The bulk of the deaths and shooting incidents, which jumped from 2,426 in 2015 to 3,550 last year, occurred in only five neighborhoods on the city’s South and West sides, all poor and predominantly black areas where gangs are most active. Police said the shootings in those areas generally wasn’t random, with more than 80 percent of the victims having previously been identified by police as more susceptible because of their gang ties or past arrests.

I rest my case.

And let’s never forget that, since most Black crime is perpetrated against other Blacks, this unconscionable jump in shooting violence is predominantly victimizing innocent Black people.

Can someone tell me how it is racist to protect Black citizens from the gangs and other thugs who infest and rot their neighborhoods?

Simply stated, if you are not addressing illegal gun use – ILLEGAL gun use, not people who legally obtain guns – and you are not going after Black gangs in the neighborhoods listed above as aggressively as possible, you are not addressing gun violence in Chicago.  Period, end of story.

And, if you expect Democrat Rahm Emanuel – now in his 6th year as Mayor – or the city council – 48 of the 50 Democrats – to do a damn thing about either one of those factors, you’re living in a dream world.

Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result.

Maybe Chicago’s voters – the ones who are less than taken with the violence in their city – should think about that the next time they go to the polls.

  • More/stricter gun control laws – which have virtually no affect whatsoever on shootings, since virtually all the guns used are obtained/owned illegally

Well, since there is no Effect from Anti-Gun Laws, clearly Chicago needs legislation
make it illegal to Get Shot.
Problem Solved. Anyone who gets shot is thrown in jail.

  • I would put forth the premise that the higher number of shootings is a good thing.

    From the police.
