“Brexit” – The British Exit from the European Union – is in progress.
According to an article at Sky News:
Article 50 trigger day key points
- PM’s Article 50 notification letter is delivered to European Council President Donald Tusk in Brussels
- Theresa May tells MPs in the Commons: “This is an historic moment from which there can be no turning back.”
- Sky Data poll finds half of Britons happy about EU divorce process starting
As you may be aware, Brexit was voted on about a year ago.
At that time, the polls suggested it would not pass. But it did (shades of the Clinton-Trump election). And it has taken all this time for the beginning of implementation – which will be completed within the next two years.
So here we are. And here, it is at least somewhat likely, is the beginning of the end of the European Union – which, even without Britain leaving, is a major problem, because the “have” countries” are increasingly subsidizing the “have-nots”.
What will happen from now going forward? Who knows. But let’s keep an eye out, because the EU’s condition/existence can have far-reaching effects on the world’s economy – and that includes us.
