Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has quickly become the darling of our mainstream media. Partly it is because she has no problem providing her opinion on just about everything, including things she pretty clearly has no knowledge of. But also because she – like the other members of “The Squad” – has no problem calling people racists; even people in her own party.
So far, media have mostly fallen in line behind Ocasio-Cortez. Hey, she’ sounds sincere, even when she’s talking right out of her rear end. But, since she is to invested in the race issue, maybe those media ought to think about looking at the people Ocasio-Cortez proactively surrounds herself with – most particularly her chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti.
Excerpted from Mike Lillis and Scott Wong’s article at thehill.com:
In recent weeks, Saikat Chakrabarti has tweeted messages suggesting Pelosi is an ineffective legislator, that a Native American lawmaker voted “to enable a racist system” and that moderate Democrats are modern-day segregationists because they backed a Senate border aid bill.
It’s all put additional pressure on Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Democrat who has taken Congress by storm.
“That’s just a terrible statement to make. That’s a terrible statement to make,” Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.), a Congressional Black Caucus member, said of Chakrabarti’s segregationists tweets. “Somebody’s got to be held accountable. If my staff did something that was not right, then I have to handle my staff.”
“The question is: Do you think it’s appropriate for your staff to say something like that?” added Meeks, who in recent days has threatened to back a primary challenger against Ocasio-Cortez.
What do you make of this? Maybe that Ocasio-Cortez’s Chief Of Staff is tossing around the racist line so much that even people who have no problem doing so themselves – not just Rep. Meeks – are getting upset, and concerned, about it?
If so, I don’t blame you.
Democrats are now in the undesirable position of dealing with “The Squad”, consisting of four POPPO (Professionally Oppressed, Perpetually Pissed Off) members: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, ilhan omar, rashida tlaib and Ayanna Pressley.
This hugely problematic quartet is forcing more temperate (some might say more sane) Democrats to either go along with their daily diatribes, or risk the public spectacle of a huge, angry rift in the party between moderate Democrats (yes, they still do exist) and the far left fringe (which not only exists, but is largely running things right now).
And the “saikatic” rantings of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Chief Of Staff are not helping things even one little bit.
I don’t know how this is going to play out. But I guarantee it won’t be boring.
