Alex Acosta is the Trump-appointed Secretary of Labor.

He is also the federal prosecutor who, in 2008, handed jeffrey epstein an insanely benign plea deal on his pedophile activities, in which 36 underage victims were identified.

Here is what Acosta has to say about that now, via several of his tweets:

“The crimes committed by Epstein are horrific, and I am pleased that NY prosecutors are moving forward with a case based on new evidence.
“With the evidence available more than a decade ago, federal prosecutors insisted that Epstein go to jail, register as a sex offender and put the world on notice that he was a sexual predator.”
“Now that new evidence and additional testimony is available, the NY prosecution offers an important opportunity to more fully bring him to justice.”

Personally, I see this as little more than a deflection; a way of distracting us from his godawful, thoroughly malodorous prosecutorial decision then, by pretending that “Oh, now there’s enough evidence to put this bastard away, I wish I had it then”.

Buyll.  The fact is that Acosta DID have it then.  And he gave epstein as close to a free pass as he could anyway – which -admittedly with no proof – makes me think ugly thoughts about why he would ever have done such a thing.

News reports suggest President Trump, for whatever his reasons might try to save Alex Acosta as Labor Secretary.  Me?  I hope he is told to resign, or he’ll be fired.
