Yesterday, adam schiff – whom Democrats apparently think is such a big winner for them that they made him lead manager for the impeachment farce currently being played out in the U.S. Senate – made his opening statement.
Here are a few key parts of what schiff had to say about what he and his Democrat cohorts are trying to convince you is the vast damage being wreaked by President Trump:
“You will hear the President’s lawyers make the astounding claim that you can’t impeach a president for abusing the powers of his office. Because they can’t seriously contest that’s exactly, exactly what he did,”
“If not remedied by his conviction in the Senate and removal from office, President Trump’s abuse of his office and obstruction of Congress will permanently alter the balance of power among the branches of government.
“For precisely this reason, the president’s misconduct cannot be decided at the ballot box, for we cannot be assured that the vote will be fairly won.”
Let’s start with the fact that there is nothing astounding about the claim President Trump did not abuse his office and the claim is very easily contested by the facts.
Ukraine President Zelensky has, over and over again, told us Trump put him under no pressure to investigate the Bidens. And, in any event, the U.S. aid in question was sent to Ukraine without any such investigation taking place.
This not only puts the lie to schiff’s impeachment riff, it also blows away the entire impeachment case.
But, just for fun, let’s pretend Trump did pressure Zelensky to investigate the Bidens’ activities there.
What about it?
Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, was being paid millions of dollars by Burisma, a Ukraine energy company, for absolutely nothing while his daddy was Vice President of the United States – a clear case of influence peddling – and when an investigator started looking into it, daddy Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in aid unless the prosecutor was fired.
That’s a Vice President of the United States using taxpayer money to get something for his kid. Why shouldn’t it be investigated?
But, you might say, the investigation would help President Trump get re-elected…
…which I would answer with a question: Are you saying that, Joe Biden should get a free pass on what he did because the investigation would help Trump? That his overt, on-video quid pro quo should be ignored because he is now a presidential candidate?
Sorry, that doesn’t compute.
As far as schiff’s riff that if you don’t convict President Trump – of something that, as pointed out earlier, there is no proof he did – it permanently alters the balance of power between branches of government? That doesn’t need an answer, because it is an inherently dumb “point”.
And then there is the implication that if Trump is not convicted and removed the 2020 election is invalid. If you need me to explain this howler, God help you.
adam schiff is a liar and a fraud….and, for reasons that, frankly, escape me, he has now been made the face of the Democrat Party.
What in the world are they thinking? Did the Republican National Committee take over their strategy room?
