President Trump told us that he would be “proud” to shut down the government over funding for border security – by which he meant construction of a wall between the United States and Mexico.
Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi refuse to provide any funding for the wall.
So who owns the resulting government “shutdown” (which I put in quotation marks because most government continues as if nothing happened)? Is it Trump for insisting on border wall funding, or Schumer and Pelosi for insisting there be no border wall funding?
There’s your chicken-and-egg question. Have fun with it.
And then have fun with one other point, in the form of a second question: what actual means of border security have Democrats offered as an alternative to the wall? I don’t mean generalities like “we need comprehensive immigration reform”, which say nothing about how it would occur, but specific proposals on how to do it.
See if you can find a chicken or egg on that one.
