Suppose this were a Democrat administration – say, Barack Obama’s. And suppose there were documents within the Department of Justice (DOJ) that would provide information about attempts to take down that administration. And suppose the DOJ was stalling the turnover of those documents every way it could.
Do you think mainstream media would be commenting on this? Maybe screaming at the top of their lungs, every day, for those documents to be released immediately?
Well, we do not have a Democrat administration, it is Republican instead.
So, with the same circumstances in place, here is the latest on what is happening, via excerpts from Chris White’s article for dailycaller.com. Please pay special attention to the last paragraph, which I have put in bold print:
The Justice Department claimed Saturday it has given House Republicans a trove of documents related to the Russia investigation and the probe against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
DOJ has partially complied subpoenas from the House Intelligence and Judiciary committees on probes related to both probes, according to a spokeswoman for House Speaker Paul Ryan. Lawmakers threatened to hold officials at the department in contempt of Congress until the documents were delivered.
“Our efforts have resulted in the committees finally getting access to information that was sought months ago, but some important requests remain to be completed,” Ryan’s spokeswoman AshLee Strong said in a statement. “Additional time has been requested for the outstanding items and based on our understanding of the process we believe that request is reasonable. We expect the department to meet its full obligations to the two committees.”
President Donald Trump has accused the FBI of spying on his campaign, but intelligence officials say they were simply trying to find out the scope of Russia’s attempts to influence the 2016 election.
These documents were sought months ago. But the DOJ – whose remnants of the Obama administration, evidently, still have a great deal of sway there, suppressed them as long as possible.
Why do you suppose they would have done so?
And the claim about planting spies – that it was only to find out about Russian interference? An average third grader blows by that one:
Third grader: Raises his/her hand.
Teacher: “What is your question?”
Third grader: “If that’s what they wanted to do, why didn’t they do it in both campaigns? If Russia wanted to interfere, wouldn’t they have tried with both candidates?”.
Don’t worry about that, teacher. I couldn’t answer it any more than you could, because there is no plausible answer to give. In fact, since everyone “knew” Hillary Clinton was going to win the presidency, they would have been far more interested about what was going on in her campaign.
The sad reality, however, is that there are a great many low-information citizens out there who, out of ignorance (thank you, media), partisanship (I’m a Democrat so I don’t want to know) or both, would never ask such a question.
And, because of this, the deep state can get away with not turning over documents of this importance for months at a time.
It occurs to me that there is a pretty good business opportunity in all this; an enterprising person can have bumper stickers made that say:
“I get my news from the mainstream media. And I vote”.
The idea is that people would buy it not for themselves, but to put on the bumpers of cars owned by people who this describes.
Think about how happy those car owners would be….
