Everyone knows that the rich are all right wingers, they have an agenda, and they meet among themselves to plot about how to further that agenda, right?

Uh…..maybe we should hold on a second there.

A wealthy Democratic donor club plotting the future of the liberal movement hopes to be fighting for reparations by 2022, according to a document obtained by the Washington Free Beacon from the Democracy Alliance’s fall conference this week in Atlanta.

The desire was stated in the invitation for a Monday reception during the biannual conference, which was attended by top Democratic Party officials such as DNC chairman Tom Perez, former Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe, and Reps. Raul Grijalva (Ariz.) and Mark Pocan (Wis.).

The reception, “Way to Win: 2022 Victory Party,” was presented as a look forward at what’s possible if Democrats can be effective in coming elections.

“It’s 2022 and we are celebrating policy victories across the nation: Medicare for All and Free College, and next on the agenda is Reparations,” the group projected, according to an invitation to the event.

The event was headlined with a speech by Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, who the group predicted would “set the course for a new wave of leaders.” She was pictured on the night of the event with McAuliffe, who was also a featured speaker at the conference and is considering a run for president in 2020.

Abrams has not publicly backed plans for universal health care or free college tuition, both policy positions supported by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.). She has also not come out in support of reparations, a policy proposal that even Sanders has come out against.

Representatives for the DNC, which had a substantial presence at this week’s conference, did not respond to a request for comment on whether it thinks a push for policies such as reparations would be politically wise for the party.

Well, well, well.

These super-rich folks who are plotting out their agenda in private are not Republicans.  They are Democrats.

And their headlined speaker, a Democrat running for Governor of Georgia, is all in on that agenda – which includes, among other things, “free college” and “reparations” – but doesn’t want the public to know she is.

How come, Ms. Abrams?

And as long as I’m asking questions, here are a couple for the entire group:

If college costs money – the school, the administration, the faculty, the supplies, etc. how, exactly, is it “free”.  Doesn’t “free” mean someone else is paying for it?  Who do you have in mind?

And who do you want to give reparations to?

-Do you want to give reparatoins to Black people whose ancestors came here as slaves, despite the fact that no slaves, or children or slaves, or – with virtually no exceptions – grandchildren of slaves are alive today?

-Do you want to give reparations to Black people from, say, Haiti or Nigeria or Ghana, who came to the United States proactively/of their own free will because they preferred being here to where they came from?

-If a Black person has one parent whose ancestors came over on a slave ship and one who fled Haiti to be here, does that person get half-reparations?

-What about people who are half Black and half White?  Do they?

-How about the ancestors of indentured servants from Europe?  Is it your intention to compensate them from reparations money too?

The fact is, this meeting may be one of a kind (though I doubt it)…but the concept of super-rich left wingers trying to redistribute wealth, anomalous as it seems, has been around for a long time.

Anyone who thinks the only rich people trying to use their money in furtherance of an agenda are Republicans, needs a lesson in basic reality.
