PUNNISHMENT

This horrific list of puns comes to us from my sister….whose familial association is the only thing saving her from a firing squad. Enjoy the groan-fest.  And remember:  things could be worse, you could be reading a political speech instead. Thosewho jump off a bridge in Paris are in Seine. Aman\’s home is his castle, in a manor of speaking Dijonvu – the same mustard...

TARNISHED SILVER, CORRODED CUOMO (CONT.)

The beginning of the end for 21 year Speaker of the New York State Assembly, (and, arguably, the single most powerful man in the state) Sheldon Silver, was last week, when he was arrested and charged with taking almost $4 million dollars in bribes. On Saturday, I blogged that this could be the beginning of the end of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo\’s presidential aspirations as...

THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

As you may have heard – and it is no joke at all – a drone actually breached security at the White House yesterday.  It apparently landed on the White House grounds during the night. Today\’s quote:  “Inmy life… It wasn\’t safe for him to go to France? He was safer there thanhe is here.” And the speaker of that quote?  My wife...

JOE FRANKLIN R.I.P.

If you live in the New York/tri-state area, and have any age on you, it will be sad news to learn that Joe Franklin, one of the true pioneers of talk radio (he was at it for over 60 years, right up to the last week or two) – and a born-and-bred Bronx native – has died at the age of 88.  The death appeared to be sudden, and the exact cause has not yet been made public. I remember...

THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote comes to us from North Korea\’s deranged man-child lunatic kim jung-un – or, more exactly, a spokesperson for him, which is exactly the same thing. It seems little kimmy, the jung-un who took over when daddy went to that big worker\’s paradise in the sky, was upset when President Obama mentioned his country during the State Of The Union speech, by noting...

MARCO RUBIO: IS HE A VIABLE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

Now that, in one poll, Marco Rubio has zoomed to within 3% of Mitt Romney among Republican presidential hopefuls, it is fair to start asking whether he is a viable presidential candidate. First, a few facts for you: Marco Rubio\’s political history is that in the 1990\’s, while in his 20\’s, Rubio became a City Commissioner in West Miami.  He won election to the Florida...

THE WORLD OF OBAMA

I talk a lot about the unbroken string of foreign policy disasters we have had under President Barack Obama – and the fact that his Accomplice Media have done so little reporting on how quickly our power and reach has diminished while the danger level to our country has grown. John Hinderaker, at powerlineblog.com has done the same, and his latest blog is excellent.   I thought...

THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote comes to us from New England Patriots coach bill belichick, who blamed the under-inflation of 11 out of  the12 footballs his team used in the League Championship series on….are you ready for this?…… “Climaticchanges” In Brooklyn and Queens, where I grew up, we had an expression for people who said things like that.  “He\’s...

AUSCHWITZ? WHO CARES?

Did you know that President Obama, who is cutting a visit to India short so he can attend the funeral of the Saudi King, will not be present at the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on Tuesday? Among the heads of state he will not be joining, are (according to the New York Times) President Fran├žois Hollandeof France, President Joachim Gauck of Germany and President...

AMERICAN SUPERHIT

Earlier this month I referenced an article at breitbart.com, which listed out 11 anti-war movies – most of them anti-USA (the two can be mutually exclusive but, for the most part, not in Hollywood) – about Iraq and Afghanistan.  Every one was a box office flop.  Total losses?  In the hundreds of millions. By contrast… …American Sniper was put...

A QUICK QUESTION FOR MOST MAINSTREAM MEDIA

A quick question for (most – not all, but most) mainstream media: Remember when you skewered then-President Bush for his kowtowing to the Saudis?  Remember how you told us what a slave to oil interests it made him?  What it said about his deference to the monarch of a repressive, intolerant country? Well, President Obama just cut short a major trip to an ally –...

TARNISHED SILVER, CORRODED CUOMO?

Other than (or, possibly, including ) the Governor, Sheldon Silver is the most powerful person in the state of New York.  He has been Speaker of the House Assembly for almost 21 years, and has ruled with an iron fist. But now he has been arrested, and is accused of taking almost $4 million dollars in bribes.   Whether or not Silver beats the charges (and it is a very good bet...

ERNIE BANKS R.I.P.

Ernie Banks, the Chicago Cubs\’ great Hall of Fame shortstop and, by all accounts, one of the nicest, most upbeat gentlemen of baseball, has died in Chicago at the age of 83.  The cause of death has not yet been announced. As a teenager, Mr. Banks was a star in the Negro leagues.  He became a Chicago Cub in 1953, and remained a Cub throughout an illustrious 19 year career...

SOME STRAIGHT LINES ARE JUST TOO GOOD TO GIVE UP

I just had my hair cut, styled, whatever. It being a Friday afternoon, the place I go to was mobbed with women (I was the only male customer). So I\’m looking to hang my coat, but the rack is very full.  One of the female customers sees me struggling to find a place for it.  And, with total innocence, she asks “Do you have a hanger?”. I...
